A cool and wet weather shift is settling over the Cascades, with mountain temps dropping into the 30s overnight—expect occasional rain and cloudy skies throughout the weekend. This pattern can work in your favor, especially for surface activity.

Green Drakes are still the main event, though fish are growing more selective. Cloud cover may extend the hatch window, but careful presentations and drag-free drifts are more important than ever. PMDs continue to hatch in the afternoons, with Rusty Spinners and Caddis bringing life to the surface toward dusk. Keep #14–18 Tan and Olive Caddis Pupae and adults handy for those post-dinner rises.

Golden Stones, Little Olive Stones, and Yellow Sallies remain active throughout the river and should continue to produce on dry-dropper setups.

Subsurface action remains strong on Euro rigs, particularly in deeper slots and under overcast skies. Productive patterns include Jigged Frenchies, Purple Perdigons, Berry’s PCP, and Zebra Midges in black or red.
