The water level in the reservoir has been slowly drawing down all summer and it is now at the toe slope for Thistle Creek boat ramp, making it no longer usable to launch boats. A few locations may still be accessible from the bank, but as the water continues to drop, bank sediments will become too steep or soft for safe fishing. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers plans to proceed with another deep drawdown of the reservoir this fall to help juvenile chinook leave the reservoir and proceed downriver.

The reservoir is usually stocked with trout in the spring. It was stocked several times in April and May with about 24,000 hatchery trout. Also, as a reminder to anglers, fishing for and harvesting Chinook in the lake and the rivers above is prohibited. Any Chinook caught in Green Peter reservoir must be released unharmed. Smallmouth bass fishing can be very good in late srping and summer l. Look for them near drop-offs, ledges, and large wood.

For the latest information on water levels at Green Peter Reservoir check with the Army Corps of Engineers' website for more information.
