We’ve got some good news from Lake Mohave—it’s fishing well right now, especially for stripers. This is a great time to get out on the water.

As a reminder, the lake is lowered about 10 feet around this time each year. This drawdown helps divers access the water to harvest larvae of endangered species raised at the hatchery.

The stripers are a little on the thin side, but anglers are still landing some nice catches. Jim Dunn and Dave Ensrud recently brought in a striper measuring 31 ¼ inches and weighing 8.94 pounds. They were fishing with anchovies by boat just before the basin area. I’ve also heard reports that trolling near the dam and at the openings of coves has been producing good results.

Along the Colorado River below Davis Dam, most fishing has been from shore. The casino area, Community Park, and Rotary Park have all been producing stripers. Rotary Park has also seen some rainbow trout action.

Speaking of trout, Moose Lodge 1860 is proud to present an upcoming youth fishing clinic. This is a great opportunity for local and visiting kids to come out and catch a fish. Our first responders will be on hand to help, and we’ll have bait and poles available. We encourage early registration—young anglers will even be treated to a meal.

Fishing licenses will be provided for participants aged 10–17 at a cost of just $5 for the year. Children under 10 do not need a license, and adult licenses (18 and up) are $37 for residents.
