Stocking: The lake was stocked with 1,000 pounds of catfish the week of September 8th. We’re stocking another 1,000 pounds of catfish the week of September 29th. So far, 6,500 pounds of catfish have been stocked this season. We’ll continue to stock catfish through October.

What’s the Catch? Catfish are your best bet right now. They are heavily stocked and actively biting. Garlic shrimp and chicken livers are back in stock in the bait shop. Pick up some frozen bait and head to the channel between the t-dock and Half Moon Cove for catfish.

Bass will bite during low-light periods, such as dawn or dusk. There was an 11 lb. lunker caught last Friday evening! Adjust to natural colors and finesse when fish go deeper midday. Watch the water level changes as some usual structure or cover may be exposed. Try fishing near drop-offs, submerged structure, or along buoy lines. Night or dusk/dawn sessions tend to be more productive for catfish and bass.

What bites midday? Panfish!  A piece of nightcrawler or meal worms will usually encourage a bite if you find a school. If you use a nightcrawler, try a sinker down about 12” and inflating it a bit.

Conditions: The current water temperature is 80 degrees at the surface. The aerator has been turned on, so the dissolved oxygen content is well mixed. The days are getting shorter with the sun is rising at 6:38 a.m. and setting at 6:42 p.m.
