The Siuslaw is open for Fall Chinook! A few early fish have been caught, as the first group is pushing into the basin. Your best bet in the lower Siuslaw in trolling though there is a few bank angling spots along the boulder rip rap in the lower stretches of the river. Fish haven't moved too far into the system yet but are around in the basin. More fish have been moving in but the bite remains slow for most folks.
Wild Coho retention opens on the Siuslaw Saturday 13 September! Like its neighbors we still need a significant rainfall for both coho and Chinook to properly move into the basin, but the coho fishery does offer an additional harvest opportunity in the basin!
There are a decent number of Lakes in the Florence/Siuslaw area that offer excellent warm water fisheries this time of year, including bass fisheries and stocked lakes! Since Fall fisheries are still early, this is a good time to hit the lakes!
Cutthroat will be distributed throughout the Siletz basin. Anglers are reminded to check the regulations for the use of bait and whether there are closed streams.
