Royal Polaris docked at Fisherman's Landing August 20 under Roy Rose's hand, with 33 anglers on a seven-day trip. They fished at Alijos Rocks, The Ridge and Cedros Island, finishing up on a scad of small tuna offshore.

Tim Ebner of LA won first place for a 96-pound tuna he busted with a sardine on a 3/0 Mutu hook and 50-pound Izorline. He said he used 65-pound Power Pro spectra on a Tiburon reel and a Calstar 800 H rod to deck the critter in a half-hour.

Susan Morgan,in the photo of San Diego won second place for an 86-pound tuna. Vickie Hall of Bosque Farms, NM won third place for a 70.4-pound tuna, her best ever.
