"We started the day with 30 to 40-pound bluefin that responded well for us," observed the report from Intrepid July 23. "Unfortunately it was short lived and we only caught 12 fish. We searched the rest of the day for very little until just before dark. At about 1830 we found a large kelp that had dorado jumping all around it. When we stopped, it was pandemonium with everyone on board hooked up at once. We caught yellowtail to 28 pounds, dorado to 15 pounds, and we even picked up three more bluefin. It was an awesome bite and a great first day of the trip. We are currently heading for Benitos to fish yellowtail. We will be there at first light."
