"We fished north," he said. "We found one really big paddy with lots of yellowtail on it. On our last day we got into a bluefin school that bit until way after dark."

Russell Ung of Lakewood won first place for his 36-pound wahoo he picked off with a rainbow-colored bomb. He said he fished with 30-pound Izorline, 60-pound Izorline spectra, an Avet JX reel and a Calstar 800 M rod.

Frank Mumolo of Simi Valley won second place for a 33.4-pound yellowtail. Jake Leedo of Chula Vista won third place for a 30.2-pound wahoo.
