Bait fishing is allowed at Kolob Reservoir through Sept. 12, 2025. Our spring netting survey found a good number of rainbow, tiger, and cutthroat trout, as well as a handful of brook trout. Most rainbow trout were between 10-15 inches and 0.5-1.5 pounds. The cutthroat trout and tiger trout tended to be larger with most between 15-22 inches and 1.5-3.5 pounds, and a few over 22 inches and 4 pounds. Fishing improves in the fall as the water cools down and trout actively feed in preparation for winter. Look for fair to good success with a variety of flies and lures. Regulation reminder: Remember that the trout limit is two fish under 15 inches or over 22 inches. All trout from 15 to 22 inches must be immediately released. Artificial flies and lures only from the second Saturday in September through Dec. 31. Recreation use at Kolob Reservoir is administered by the Washington County Water Conservancy District. Dramatic increases in visitors during recent years has prompted the district to employ new regulations to allow them to properly maintain the surrounding land and mitigate abuse. Camping fees are required and boats are limited to 10-horsepower motors. Please respect these regulations so that recreational access can be maintained at Kolob Reservoir.
