Flows from the dam are still around 220 cfs.. Anglers can check flows here.
Some anglers have reported slower fishing this year but recent sampling has shown there are plenty of brown trout out there.
Look for some larger caddis this fall and the occasional blue wing olive hatch. Nymphs terrestrial patterns and streamers can be productive between hatches. Casting spinners, and crankbaits is also effective.
Brown trout will be spawning throughout the fall so pleas avoid wading in gravely areas to protect burried eggs.
ODFW is using a tagging study to evaluate brown trout distribution and movement in the Owyhee tailwater this year. If you catch a tagged fish please report it here. Green tags must be removed to recieve the reward, yellow tags can be left in the fish, just record the four digit number and report the river reach where you caught the fish.
