The river has risen, got chocolate-milky, and is coming back down now. Down towards Shasta Lake, we expect to see it fishing better later in the week. Your best option is to go higher towards Dunsmuir. Or better yet, fish the Lower Sacramento. It's really good right now.
A good fly box will have various sizes of Parachute Adams from #14 - 18, Dark Stonefly Nymphs in #6-8, Black Midge Nymph Patterns and #12 Bird's Nest, #18 Gordon Prince Nymphs. See suggested fly patterns in the accompanying sidebar for reference.
