Fishing is fair. Flows have increased substantially to 3,000 cfs bringing more steelhead into the system and thinning out the crowds. Swinging popcicles, egg sucking leaches and rabbit leaches have been the most productive patterns with a spey rod. A Skagit line to match the rod will turn over heavy wet flies and a 10’ sink tip. Big bright egg patterns with heavy split shot under an indicator is popular in riffles and tailouts. Best fishing is early and late in the day when fish are more active. These steelies are Eel River strain and some fish over 10 lbs are showing.
