There is a swimming advisory for the Butcher Jones area.

Night fishing is picking up. Gary Senft, on a recent report on the Facebook page Fishing with Gary Senft, reported that using top-water plugs and deep-diving crankbaits was slow in the morning, but action picked up around 8 a.m. using dropshot and Texas rigged Cactus Wren worms and Roboworms.

See Senft’s full video about catching surface feeding bass with top-water baits.

Typically this time of year, the dropshot technique will produce the best largemouth bass bite, although some anglers will report a bit of success on spoons jigged in deep water. Try a Roboworm dropshot in morning dawn and various brown colors in 20-60 feet of water depth.

Lake level is 1,526 feet (95-percent full).
