The Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife will host a public meeting on Feb. 15 to get input on the commercial fishery for anchovy in the ocean and the mouth of the Columbia River for 2017 and beyond.
Commercial fishers, processors of coastal pelagic species and the general public are invited to share their views at the meeting that will be held at the Holiday Inn Express and Suites, 204 W. Marine Drive, in Astoria. The meeting starts at 1:30 p.m., and ends at 3:30 p.m.
The agenda includes an overview of the current fishery, which includes staff sharing results of their monitoring activities. In addition, fishery managers will be asking for feedback on several topics, such as any gear or fishery conflicts, bycatch of other species, and anchovy harvest concerns or issues.
In lieu of attending the meeting, public input can be sent to Cyreis Schmitt (cyreis.c.schmitt@state.or.us) or Troy Buell (troy.v.buell@state.or.us) at the ODFW Marine Resources Program, (541) 867-4741.
