Roy Rose finished his five-day Royal Polaris trip with 29 anglers at Fisherman's Landing August 21.

"We had excellent yellowtail fishing down the beach," he said, "and we got a nice wahoo trolling offshore."

Carlos Grijalra of Lincoln Heights won first place in the jackpot for a 24-pound yellowtail. He was tied by McKay Scanlon of Phoenix. Carlos said he got his fish on a sardine on the dropper loop with a four-ounce weight. He used 40-pound Seaguar fluorocarbon leader, 65-pound Izorline Spectra, a Cal Sheets-treated Penn 12 T reel and a six and a half-foot Wade rod.

Bobby Fujimoto of Mission Viejo got third place for a 20.4-pound yellowtail.

Stephen Ventura of Valinda trolled up a large wahoo of 63 pounds with a black and orange "Halloween" Marauder. The wahoo is the best so far this summer/fall season, at least so far.
