The Salt River Project has made an early transition to releases back to the Salt River.

On Tuesday, releases below Stewart Mountain Dam already were 201 cfs. Normal release at this time is 8 cfs.

Releases below Bartlett Dam Tuesday afternoon were 465 cfs (down from Monday’s average of 772).

Weather pending, the Lower Salt River is scheduled to be stocked Friday or next week. As a guideline, trout are primarily stocked at Phon D. Sutton and Granite Reef recreation sites during the winter.

Also, an angler has reported the Yellow Cliffs ramp at Bartlett is closed due to low water. As of Tuesday afternoon there was 6 feet of water depth at the end of the ramp.
