Stripers pushing 10 pounds are taking anchovies fished from shore and boat near Big Bend State Recreation Area. Weekends draw a lot of crowds and activity in the water, so better fishing is being reported during the week in the evenings. Black bass are chasing crankbaits along the river in the evening hours. Catfish are active during the day and at night. Try you luck fishing a worm or piece of anchovy off the bottom near vegetation where they are hiding in the shadows.
