At Lake Powell, a recent report from Wayne Gustaveson said that stripers have been holding on the lake bottom from 70-100 feet. When warmer water finally arrives, stripers move to shallower water to bask in the 50-degree water. Unfortunately, there are very few shad, so stripers won’t find much food at the back of the canyon. They will be forced to eventually move toward the main channel where they will be happy to find frozen bait dangling and anxious anglers waiting for them. Expect stripers to make that journey toward the main channel in late March or April.
