Don’t forget to fish Lake Del Valle anyone 16 or older must have a Del Valle Fishing Permit, and a California Fishing License. The Fishing Permit is $5.00 per person 16 or older. You can purchase them at the Main Kiosk or at the Bait Store located at the Marina. For the Fishing License you can purchase them at the Bait Store. It is $17.02 for the day. And if you are a California residence for the year it would be $52.66.
Here is a report from our very own Fisherman Dr. Al Hurwitz:
Al Hurwitz of Saratoga and Abbey Lev of Sunnyvale trolled the entire lake today. Initially we went looking for Rainbow Trout, trolling Speedy Shiners 15 feet below the surface. Then later trolled for Smallmouth Bass with feathered Panther Martin Spinners, also trolling 15 feet below the surface. No bites. Most of the fish were seen on the sonar unit along the western shore of the lake opposite Swallow Bay and the Narrows. The fish were in 30-foot water columns and were located 10-20 feet below the surface but had a bad case of “lockjaw“. We spoke with other fishermen who were still fishing, and they also had no luck. I think the gusty winds and the unexpected low-pressure system made the troll very difficult. The lake level is coming up with good clarity. Surface temperature rose over the day from the low up to mid-fifties. We are waiting for more warmth in the water and higher lake levels for the fishing conditions to improve. Once that happens, trollers and all fishermen will have more success. See you soon.
All the best, Dr. Al Hurwitz
