November is all about elk in Oregon. Whether hunting Rocky Mountain elk on the east side of the state or hunting Roosevelt elk on the rainy west side, people are in the woods this time of year looking for these iconic Oregon animals.
If you're interested in elk, we've got a three-part podcast series looking at Oregon's elk species, their biology, life history strategies and what hunters should understand about each species.
The first episode focused on wildlife research on elk and the many things scientists have come to understand about these two species. Have a listen here: https://myodfw.com/articles/episode-74-science-elk
The second episode (out today) features Baker district wildlife biologist Brian Ratliff talking about Rocky Mountain elk. Have a listen here: https://myodfw.com/articles/episode-75-rocky-mountain-elk
The third installment in the series will focus on Cascade and coastal Roosevelt elk and will be out next week.
