EAGLE VALLEY RESERVOIR

Ice was still thick enough for groups of anglers to get together on the ice this past weekend. The park reported the ice to be about 10 inches thick. Anglers are catching rainbow trout on night crawlers and a variety of PowerBait.

ECHO CANYON RESERVOIR

Visitors are still seeing ice along the edges. Only a few anglers were out this past week, but those who were found good fishing for trout with  orange and chartreuse PowerBait. The campgrounds and all facilities are open.

LAKE MEAD

Striped bass are biting anchovies along the beaches near Hemenway. Anglers are averaging five fish a day and are reporting more bites when fishing anchovies just off the bottom in the evening. In the Overton Arm, anglers have had success with swimbaits in 30 to 50 feet of water. The black bass bite is on and off with the recent winds and low overnight temperatures. A few anglers have reportedly been  catching smallmouth bass in the area near Crawdad Cove.

LAKE MOHAVE/WILLOW BEACH

Reports of striper catches are coming in at the lake's north and south ends. Boaters have been fooling the fish with X-Rap jerkbaits in shad and minnow patterns. Black bass action remains slow, likely because of the cooler temperatures. At Willow Beach, kayakers are catching rainbow trout on soft plastic worms in pearl and olive colors. Shore anglers have also reported the fish are biting on minnow and shad crankbaits.

LAUGHLIN

Rainbow trout have been the main catch on the river. Anglers fishing from boat and shore are catching rainbows with PowerBait, night crawlers, and spinners. Striper bites are hit and miss, but fish as large as 10 pounds have been caught on anchovies and trout swimbaits along the river.

 WAYNE E. KIRCH WMA

Some portions of the reservoirs have open water where rainbow trout fishing might be possible from the shoreline. Nights are still dropping below freezing, so thin ice is forming along the edges. Any ice will be too thin for ice fishing. There have been no reports of bass or crappie biting

URBAN PONDS

Night crawlers and mealworms are the go-to bait for catching stocked trout. A few catfish have been taken on warmer evenings at Sunset Park. Even though we are reaching 70-degree days, it is still early to get bluegill bites. For recent stocking reports visit the new Nevada Department of Wildlife website at ndow.org.
