This is some interesting news for our local anglers. We are getting rainbow trout brought in from a hatchery in Colorado. These stocking were first started by our last pest abatement manager. The purpose was to help with the caddis fly problem. which the trout have been proven to be very effective by feeding on these insects. Our local angler of about 33 years Bill Grippo was fishing at rotary park and landed his limit of 5 rainbow trout. He was fishing from shore at first was using power bait then switched to one of his trout spinners to get his limit. but what he did was able to land this albino trout which is a rainbow trout. I called the hatchery to get some information, and this is what I was told it is and they have been planting a few of these yellow and gold colored rainbow trout with each stocking. I have been hearing of various homeowners along the river seeing them and wondering what they are. Our water here the Colorado river is so clear and pristine they are easy to spot. I have also gotten some striper news from both the river hear below the Davis dam and up on Lake Mohave anglers are landing a few near the dam and on the Arizona aside near the power lines using anchovies or trolling a swim bait like the ac plug. The casino area and community park have been producing a few stripers and some small mouth bass along with limits of rainbow trout.
