Fishing is generally best when flows are below 3,000 cfs. Currently flows are around 2,200 cfs at the Waterloo gauge as of June 6th. Summer steelhead numbers are still low and it may be another slow return year for these fish. About 100 fish have made it to Foster so far.
However, Willamette Falls counts are indicating a good spring Chinook run. So far over 12,600 adults have entered the upper Willamette basin as of June 4th, with many of these fish destined for the South Santiam.
Anglers are reminded that only fin-clipped trout may be kept.
