Water Conditions
The Truckee River has decent flows and great clarity right now, which is typical of this time of year. There is a lot of access to the river with many parking spots available to anglers. Flows on the Truckee River are 82 CFS in the town of Truckee, 161 CFS near Glenshire and 391 CFS at the stateline.
Tips for the Week
Nymphing and midge fishing are the main techniques anglers are using right now. The fish are cold and don’t want to work hard to eat. Fish are mostly found right now in the slower deeper pools saving there energy, so fishing slow with an indicator and small flies is the most popular way to get bites. Anglers can also try to fish in the middle of the day when the water will be at its warmest. You can still find random hatches of blue winged olives and midges at this time of year.
