Crane Prairie is free of ice and has good access at the resort. Not too many reports yet but balanced leeches and chironomids are both good choices for searching early season. Last year olive blanched leeches with a hot bead were great producers and we suspect they will be again this season. The midges are hatching thick up there so on days with no wind they will be all over you and your boat. Bug nets and buffs can be beneficial to keep them away from your face. They won’t bite you but they can certainly be a nuisance.
