Lower Lake Mary - The day use area is open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily. Campgrounds along the Lake Mary Road corridor are open. Reminder, the daily bag limit is 4 trout per day and 4 channel catfish per day. Northern pike are unlimited but must be immediately killed or released. Only boats with a single 10-horsepower motor (or less) or a single electric motor are allowed on Lower Lake Mary. Fishing remains good for rainbow trout. Small lures (spoons like Kastmasters and inline spinners such as Joe’s flies), flies (#10 bead head Simi-seal leech in black, wine, and olive, # 14-18 Zebra Midge, Soft Hackles, Elk Hair Caddis, and #12 Prince Nymph), and bait (PowerBait and worms) are all working well. Midges have been hatching out in droves on warm days, creating a fun dry dropper fishing opportunity. Northern pike have also been active and have been readily caught on lures. The lake level is dropping, concentrating the fish. For best success, target the main channel or open areas in the aquatic vegetation.

Upper Lake Mary - Statewide limits apply for the fish species in Upper Lake Mary; check your regulations (page 6). The main boat launches are open, and an electronic fee system is now in place. Nearby Lakeview and Pine Grove campgrounds are now open. Walleye and northern pike are likely transitioning from the inflow areas of the lake to cruising the shoreline of the lake in search of food. Target the edges of the weed line for northern pike and look for rocky shoreline and points for walleye. Anglers have been catching very large yellow bass (rivaling the current state records) recently on crankbaits.
