Even though the ocean has been very windy, anglers have been having some success catching Chinook just outside the mouth of the river. Anglers fishing the ocean will want to check regulations before heading out.
Cutthroat trout are scattered throughout the river. The best time to catch cutthroat is in the evening or early morning as they move to the head of pools to feed. As water temperatures climb in the main river, anglers willing to do a little rugged exploring should try fishing higher in the watershed or some of the larger tributaries to find cutthroat.
