Los Vaqueros Reservoir is still producing quality Rainbow Trout despite the recent heat waves!  I trolled Los Vaqueros Reservoir targeting Rainbow Trout landing three nice Lassen Rainbows, (the largest at 3.9 pounds in photo below), and six stripers.  The largest Lassen Rainbow was kept and all other fish were safely released to the lake.  The trout were caught on J-9 and Husky Jerk Rapala lures and the stripers were caught on chartreuse and silver Speedy  Shiner lures in the 30’ to 40’ water column down 20’ from the surface.   The trout and most of the stripers were caught along  the eastern shoreline between East Cove and the dam.  The water conditions were great with the surface temperature running 70’ - 71’ and excellent clarity.
