Isabella dropped to 51 percent capacity and the fishing remains solid here. Anglers have been catching big trout this week. The area around the cemetery is kicking out numbers and quality. Small swimbaits, Keitechs and trout Hook Up Baits are fooling the larger ones. Boaters trolling Flicker Shad and Tasmanian Devils continue to score at a steady pace. Early this week, our contacts reported crappie are biting all over the lake. The most popular spots were French Gulch and Red’s Marina. Crappie have been coming on jerkbaits, crappie jigs in white or chartreuse and live shiners. Bass fishing is excellent, but most of them are on the small side though. Bass are all over the lake in shallow water. The larger bucket mouths are in 15 to 25-feet of water. Our sources have informed us that there is a very good topwater and crankbait bite near Lyme Dyke and in the rocks around French Gulch. Bass have been coming on DT16 and river2sea basin crankbaits in craw and shad patterns They’re also getting them on Rapala Mavrik jerkbaits in pro blue and other shad colors. A variety of topwater in the early hours have been scoring as well. One of our contacts reported the whiskerfish bite is going off right now at Engineer Point. They’ve been catching catfish with clams, night crawlers and shad.
