Stocking: Lake Jennings was freshly stocked with 1,000 pounds of catfish the week of August 19th! Another 1,000 pounds of catfish will be added the week of September 9th. The last stocking for this season will take place in October, meaning you can enjoy night fishing every Friday and Saturday night until then!

What’s the Catch? LOTS of catfish were reeled in the last two weekends. Most cats are being reeled in by boat near Shadow Cove and Eggerts Point, but we did hear of some nibbles in Siesta Cove from shore. Mackerel and garlic shrimp were doing the trick. Our rangers recommend letting the shrimp defrost in the sun so they get extra smelly! Bass, large and small were caught all over the lake from the coves around the boat dock to Hermit Cove. Reports were Brush Hog and Senkos on a Carolina-Rig. During the heat you’ll find bass in shaded areas, submerged cover, and the edges of vegetation around the lake. The best time to fish is during the first few hours of the day and just after sunset. Most species will be active in the lowlight.

Conditions: The current water temperature at the surface is around 80 degrees. The sun is rising at 6:26 a.m. and setting at 7:07 p.m. The New Moon was September 2nd. The district is refilling at approximately 25 million gallons a day. We expect the fill to last about a month. The t-dock will remain closed until the fill is complete and it can be assessed for safety.
