Current River Conditions: Conditions are good for wading or boating. Fishing has been great on the Trinity! Good reports of big brown trout, small to medium sized steelhead and big 'ol King Salmon are in the daily chatter heard around the fly bins at The Fly Shop! You should fish here!
Ross Wilkerson has been over on the Trinity, playing with enormously powerful King Salmon that can break your fly rod. Definitely worth planning a day or two fishing this river over the next couple weeks at least!
Trinity River flows are a very comfortable 450 cubic feet per second. Excellent!!!
While fishing the Trinity this summer, consider fishing Lewiston Lake, which is far from an alternative, but a destination that offers great fishing!!
In case you don't know, the Fly Only Section is located from the Old Bridge in Lewiston, CA. upstream to with-in 250ft of the dam. This section is seasonal and currently open as of April 1st through the summer. Contact us about the Trinity River!
The Fly Shop's ? Tips: A variety of techniques, using your 8-9 wt rod for Salmon, or a more adaptable 5-6wt fly rod for small steelhead and aggressive browns will tie you into fish. Suspending nymphs under an indicator, stripping buggers and leeches, swinging muddlers or PT nymphs will produce hook-ups! Even dry flies should be in the plan. Bring a parachute Adams! Hey! The King Salmon will eat nymphs suspended under indicators. What a blast!
