October can provide some of the best fishing of the year for all species, and you'll often have the lakes to yourself because mane people are focused on hunting. Try using flies, jigs, lures or natural baits like nightcrawlers and grasshoppers. The Quiet Fly Fisher fly shop reports good fishing. Matching hatches and targeting feeding behavior are still important. They recommend cream-colored scuds and callibaetis imitations. Another angler reports good to excellent fishing using wooly buggers, leech patterns, damselfly nymphs, San Juan worms and egg patterns. Call the fly shop at 435-616-2319 for up-to-date conditions and fishing reports.
