After several days of consistent rain the Russian finally went over the 300 cfs and after the DFG took their sweet time they changed the recording on the low flow hotline from closed to open.  Being early in the season there are not a ton of steelhead in the system but I have gotten reports of both small steelhead and salmon being caught.  Just remember that all salmon on the Russian are protected and must not be removed from the water. With consistent rain in the forecast this week we should see the river remain open and new fish entering. Just remember to check the flow before you go 707-944-5533.
