Joe Crisci brought Qualifier 105 home to Pt. Loma Sportfishing August 26 after a five-day trip to the northern Baja islands. There were 25 anglers aboard, said Joe, and they enjoyed great weather and quality yellowtail on the anchor at Benitos, along with a good night bite and a visit to Guadalupe Island.

"We saw good sign at Guadalupe," remarked Joe, "and we got a sampling and we fed Whitey a big yellowtail."

Clarence Beck or Victorville won the jackpot for a 33.2-pound yellowtail. He said he took it with a sardine on a 2/0 Flyliner hook tied to 40-pound Seaguar fluorocarbon leader and 60-pound Line One Spectra. He fished with an Avet LX reel and a Calstar 765 L rod.

Craig Struikmans of Ontario was second for a 32.8-pound yellowfin tuna, and George Plantenga of Bakersfield won third place for a 28.2-pound yellowtail.
