LAKE MEAD – Constant high summer temperatures are keeping the fish out from shore during the day and bringing them closer to shore at night.  Early risers are chasing boils in and around the coves on the north side of Boulder Basin. Striped bass are biting on anchovies, shad swimbaits, and live shad. Catfish are biting on almost anything, mainly at night. Black bass are hitting on plastics and crankbaits.

LAKE MOHAVE – Striper fishing has been best from boats, though shore anglers may find some action in the early mornings and evening hours. Stripers are generally in the 2- to 4-pound range, though some have weighed in at 6-7 pounds. Rainbow trout are hiding along drop offs below Willow Beach. Bluegill are biting on micro lures or night crawlers north of Cottonwood Cove.

LAUGHLIN – Striper fishing is heating up below Davis Dam. According to reports from the Big Bend area, anglers are catching stripers, catfish, and black bass. Stripers in the 1- to 4-pound class are most active around sunrise and sunset. Catfish are taking chicken livers and anchovy pieces from shore and boat. Crankbaits and plastics are catching largemouth bass.

LAS VEGAS URBAN PONDS – High temperatures and windy conditions have slowed fishing at the urban ponds. Anglers are seeing lots of bluegill at Lorenzi, Floyd Lamb and Veterans Memorial parks. Most fish are holding in deeper water or in the shadows. They are taking night crawler pieces, mealworms, and small flies.

KIRCH WILDLIFE MANAGEMENT AREA – Fishing has been good early in the day. All the reservoirs are getting thick vegetation along the shorelines. Anglers fishing Cold Springs in the evening hours are finding bass willing to take top-water baits. Overall, it’s been hot, windy, and dry.

EAGLE VALLEY RESERVOIR – Anglers are finding the cool mornings best for trout action. Largemouth and crappie are hitting well as temperatures warm throughout the day. Bass are taking bright 1/16-ounce top-water lures and root beer colored tube baits. Most bass are about a pound or less, though patient anglers are reeling the occasional fish in the 4- to 6-pound class.

ECHO CANYON RESERVOIR – Trout action is starting to slow, although crappie and bass action is good in the middle of the lake. Bass can also be found along the rocks.  Fly-fishers have had their best luck using brown Woolly Buggers and nymphs.
