Flow Rates and Water Conditions:

The water has been gin clear here, and is in perfect shape for the action packed spring season. Temps have risen a couple of degrees in the last two weeks due to the warming conditions.

Fishing Conditions and Hatches:

The fly fishing has really started to pick up the last two weeks for large fish from 10-20lbs. Indicating and stripping have been equally putting bends in the rods. Primetime is just around the corner in March and April.

Recommended Flies

Flies of choice on our guide trips have been Chewy Tui's and Balanced Tui Chub patterns. Also taking fish have been the Go To and UPS midges. When stripping, we have been running Bugger/Beetle patterns and have landed some monster fish on Popcorn Beetles.]

Guides Hint: This is a patience lake, don't keep moving around if you aren't hooking fish. Just wait it out and keep your bug in the water. These fish come through in pods, and aren't normally just sitting out in front of you. They are always on the move, looking for Tui Chubs!
