I’ve been spending a few days a week on the delta and things are definitely slowing down, but still finding a few here and there. My last trips, catching 25 fish a day hasn’t been the problem as any dead end sloughs or areas right outside the current has been holding lots of fish. I’ve been getting in bends or points with lots of current and getting a bite here and there as well. Yeah, they have been 3+ pounders, but difficult for me to want to go do that all day.

I’ve found a few key areas where they will definitely stick around for the next couple months. They have been grouped up and seems like all sizes are mixed in together and once you find exactly where they are you can catch quite a few super quick. I’ve seen some cool things happen like you catch a 1 pounder then next cast you catch a 4 pounder.

A megabass 110 Jerkbait has been deadly also a lucky craft pointer. Squarebills and chatterbaits have been a player on low light days with dropshotting and throwing a shaky head producing better bites. I’ve been throwing a 7 inch roboworm that blends in with the water color in the area I’ve been fishing. If the water has more of a brown tent I’ll throw desert craw and if it’s clear or slightly green I’ll throw Aarons magic or the reliable margarita mutilator.

You can still punch a few nice ones in the hyacinth away from heavy current. If you force it you can catch a few a day going down the right mat stretches.

Let’s get out on the river while the bite is still decent! Call or text to book a trip.\
