Clear Lake is hands down fishing better than any other lake around right now. The lake has been super low but now is on the rise with the heavy rains in the last week. We averaged a couple 5+ pounders a day so did most people we talked to. Not many places you can go and catch 5+ pounders right now as well as having a shot at multiple a day. We caught fish in 5 to 25 ft of water. We would throw jigs, drop shots, underspins, even Texas rigs. The only way I could find 6 or 7 pounders was on a crankbait or big swimbait. Knowing the spot on the spot was huge. Big ones have been grouped up together but I couldn’t catch a big one and throw back in the same spot for at least 30 minutes. When we would hook a big one they would seem to scatter. I found they needed time to regroup and position up on the spot again. Shad patterns produced well but also a big creature bait Texas rigged and big bulky jig would get bit and typically a 4+ pounder. I only had a couple days to fish so I just stuck to the south end and mid lake. I spent a lot of time graphing and would find a school on some structure then flip around and fish them. Going back up for 5 days next week. Call or text if you are interested in a trip on clear lake. Thanks!
