Beautiful spring weather is here and the fishing is really starting to improve. Water levels are low at Camanche so be cautious as islands are exposed and lots of areas are not marked. The main lake looks good with spotted bass transitioning from island tops to shallow haunts in depths of 10 to 20 feet of water. Largemouth are starting to move shallow as well, look for bedding flats and fish cruising in 2 to 10 feet of water. Glidebaits can produce early in the morning or later in the day relative to sun angles. Most productive baits for me include ned rigs, dropshot, jigs and glides. Colors are green pumpkin or minnow type patterns. Don’t forget there’s lots of trout around too which can be very fun for young anglers to chase!
