With warming surface temperatures, trout anglers will want to fish off the bottom or with a sliding and threaded nighcrawler under a bobber. Trolling near the dam or up by the Emigrant Arm will be best for trout. For bank anglers interested in a little hike, walkalong the shore toward the dam to find the deepest water. The best success out here will be targeting warmwater fish.
Bass fishing has really picked up in the last few weeks. Anglers are throwing lipless crankbaits/rattlers, spinner baits, and Texas rigs. A nice 3- or 4-inch swim bait has also produced based on recent reports.
Crappie fishing with small crappie jigs is also producing.
For more information on park facilities closures visit the Jackson County Parks website.
The reservoir has been rising the last few weeks due to water transfers from Howard and Hyatt and is at 33 percent. Surface temperatures are in the high 60s.
