At Roper Lake (report courtesy of Park Ranger Michael DeLeon), the bass fishing is still good for 2- to 4-pound fish. Shore and boat anglers have both been most successful during mid-morning and evening hours with dark-colored Texas rigged worms. Dark plastic worms are also working for anglers using a dropshot rig. The catfish bite is finally picking up and reports of double-digit flathead catfish have been coming in. Recently, an angler caught a 15-pound flathead on the east side while fishing at night with nightcrawlers. The bluegill and crappie are biting nightcrawlers from the floating piers. Either try a bobber with 2-foot leader or suspend your bait straight down.
