This time of year beginning mid August it seems the holdover trout begin to show up for anglers, and this year we would expect the same bite to happen on Melones. For anglers wanting to dangle some bait, the trout have been willing to bite using nightcrawlers, powerbait, and will also go after live minnows. The spillway has been producing limits fishing down to 60 ft. depth. Trolling Apex lures will produce strikes from reported 4-6 lb. holdovers.
