I Fished Don Pedro twice in the last couple weeks and found it to be pretty tough! A 3+ pounder is a really nice fish for right now and finding those size fish can be extremely difficult. Fish are scattered all through the water column. We found 2.5+ pounders in 1 ft of water all the way out to 60ft of water. I covered lots of areas with a topwater bait and the majority of bites we got on it being smaller but we did get a 3 pounder on a river2sea rover in a Shad pattern. I found a few schools of largemouth chasing bait out deep. The quality was there with most of the fish coming on a 5 inch flutter spoon and drop shot. The thing with lots of these schooling fish right now on Pedro is that they are suspended and so are the bait fish so they can be there one day and gone the next. They are still around the bait you just have to find where the bait moved to. This is a typical fall deal on Pedro with the water dropping. The fish that are shallow are eating bait fish as well as crawdads. Seeing a lot of 3 to 6 inch bass that are definitely getting munched on as well.  Topwaters , glides, flukes, spoons, senkos, as well as Jerkbaits are my go to fall baits on Pedro. My last trip out my buddy Robert and I had around 14lbs catching them shallow as well as 60ft of water boating more than 50 fish which was a week day! I know two big TOC tournaments that are on Pedro in the next couple weeks that I am not fishing. There was a Christian Bass League tournament this past weekend on Pedro with 35 boats it only took 12.10 lbs to win. I’ve been guiding a lot on the delta but am willing to make some trips up to Pedro! Shoot me a call or text and let’s book a day.
