EAGLE VALLEY RESERVOIR

Rainbow, tiger, and brown trout fishing is picking up. Fishers have reported good fishing with night crawlers, garlic PowerBait, and Mepp’s spinners. Temperatures are dropping near freezing overnight, making the afternoon best for bass and crappies.

ECHO CANYON RESERVOIR

Anglers have been catching trout with a variety of baits and lures. Try brown or olive Woolly Buggers, PowerBait, and spinners. Bass and Crappies are taking jigs later in the day. The reservoir is low, but vegetation is clearing from the shorelines. Use caution along the muddy shores.

LAKE MEAD

Anglers are reporting hit-or-miss action for black bass in Las Vegas Bay, the Overton Arm, and near Temple Bar. Green pumpkin worms and craws are getting hit. Anglers targeting striped bass are reporting success in the early mornings with anchovies and shad plastics. Government Wash is a hotspot for catfish and bluegill in the evenings. Anchovies are working well for cats and night crawlers for bluegill.

LAKE MOHAVE/WILLOW BEACH

The striper bite is slow at Willow Beach. Panther Martins and PowerBait are landing limits of rainbow trout. Cooler water temperatures in the main reservoir are bringing stripers up into shallower water. Anglers are reporting boils near Katherine Landing. Jerkbaits, walking baits, and topwater lures are popular choices. A combination of dark-colored soft plastics and crankbaits are attracting black bass in weedy coves.

LAUGHLIN

Stripers in the 3-pound range are taking anchovies from shoreline anglers near Big Bend State Recreation Area. Boaters throwing jerkbaits are tempting the bigger fish. In addition, seasonal trout plants have begun at multiple locations along the river, providing ample opportunities for shore anglers. Glitter PowerBait and night crawlers are the go-to trout baits.

 WAYNE E. KIRCH WMA

The action for rainbow trout continues to be good throughout the area, with the fish taking a variety of dark lures and baits where permitted. The Nevada Department of Wildlife planted rainbow trout in each of the large reservoirs. With waterfowl hunting season now underway, you can bag a few ducks as well as some fish. Remember to follow hunter safety protocols.

URBAN PONDS

Action has been a little slow at the community fishing ponds though catfish are taking night crawlers and stink baits. Bluegill action has been best in the late afternoon when the water temperature is at its warmest. They are taking night crawler pieces and mealworms. Persistent anglers have gotten some bass out of Floyd Lamb using dark-colored jigs and plastics.
