Any boat over 20 feet is not recommended for launching into Stampede because of the low water levels, but there is still access for smaller boats. Anglers trolling or shore fishing for trout can find them staged on the northwest corner of the reservoir near the Sagehen Creek and Little Truckee River arms. Anglers trolling should focus in the 10 to 20 foot water column with rapalas, sierras spoons, or a nightcrawler behind a dodger. The Kokanee and bass bite are just about done for the season at Stampede Reservoir. Some smallmouth are still around, but the bite is limited.
Stampede Reservoir is currently at 34% capacity.
