Report: The closure on the Shasta-Trinity National Forest lands currently will be in place through the end of the month. It should open up on November 1st. These include national forest lands downstream of Dutton Creek on Steiner Flat Road, above Sky Ranch BLM access including Evans Bar, and areas downstream of Junction City. Everything above Douglas City for sure is open. When in doubt, check the the Shasta-Trinity National Forest site for the latest information and closure updates.

There are good numbers of fish from Lewiston down through Steiner Flat. The fish are pretty grabby, top fly is definitely the black Rubberlegs. Salmon have moved in and are spawning, so egg patterns are something you should take a look at tying on. Wink wink. Really looking forward to the closures being lifted! This season is shaping up to be a good one.

Early Summer Run Steelhead on the Trinity River will take swung flies readily. Spey rods are becoming an increasingly popular method to swing flies.
