Water flows on the North Fork Feather River below Canyon Dam will increase and decrease from Dec. 7-10 while Pacific Gas and Electric Company tests new controls on water gates at the dam.

PG&E will gradually increase and decrease flows repeatedly.  The higher flows will occur within the Canyon Dam Reach, a 10-mile stretch of the North Fork Feather River between the dam and the Belden Reservoir in Caribou in Plumas County.

PG&E advises those recreating near this portion of the river to exercise caution. Normal flows this time of year are about 40-50 cubic feet per second (cfs) and will increase by a depth of about half a foot an hour until flows reach 800 cfs, then gradually be reduced.
