With snow on the ground and cooler days, the fish will be a little slower to take your flies. Rubberlegs and smaller nymphs are getting the job done. There are still plenty of fish and some larger ones showing up. If you are swinging flies, think slow and deep. Try fishing intruders with sink tips, orange and purple are good colors besides the standard black and blue. Hartwick's Hosers are great patterns, and Bret's Klamath Intruders are tailor made for this river. If you are heading up make sure you check the forecast and status of Interstate 5, it can be an ice rink out there.
