Lake Poway stocked 1,000lbs. of catfish on Friday July 8th. Catfish were being caught from both shoreline and off the boats; the best place to go while boating is the Log-Boom. The fishing pier and Jump Off Point are usually best along the shoreline for catfish but people were catching all over the lake this weekend. The best baits for catfish are mackerel, chicken liver or nightcrawlers. Lake Poway has also gotten a great bluegill spawn this spring and they have spread out all over the lake and are great for kids to catch. Night fishing will be every Friday and Saturday night through September 3rd and boats will be allowed out on the lake until 11:00pm and shoreline fishing until 11:30pm.
When you stop by concessions to buy your permit ask about the best spots and baits. They have up to the minute information.
