At Roper Lake near Safford (report courtesy of Roper Lake State Park Ranger Michael DeLeon), bass fishing has been very good. Bass in the 6- to 10-pound range are being caught regularly, with anglers using plastic worms in either green, purple or brown wacky-rigged or drop-shotted. Catfishing is still good with one excited angler recently even landing an albino channel catfish (which he caught and released back into the lake). Hot dogs or night crawlers are the go-to, fished around dusk. A few reports of flatheads being caught every now and again, mainly on night crawlers. The crappie fishing is really slow with no recent reports of anglers landing any. Bluegill and sunfish angling is still good, fishing from the piers is recommended with meal worms or night crawlers.
